Weaning food; you can give egg yolk, after 6 months. recent studies show that if you start any food item early (between 6-9 months) , chances of allergies are less.
basic rule is your can give anything that is
1.properly cooked (or rather slightly over cooked, so that it is very soft to swallow)
to give home cooked food..
2. Properly mashed; so that it does not get stuck.

6 month is apt time to start complementary foods to your child. I dont think you should start with egg yolk straightaway as it contain lots of fats n cholesterol. Although its good source of vit D , E B12. You can wait for 1 yr then it can be given. From now You should start him on semisolid foods like khichdi ,dalia (cerelac), mashed fruits like banana, potatoes, dal, curd, veg soups. And do continue him on breastfeeding.
