Gum bleeding in lay man terms is a signal of the body to the individual that your gums are infected.( Any problem in the body e.g. when there is Infection in the body, Body tries to make you aware of the spreading infection usually by pain/fever/swelling/bleeding). Now coming to your problem. You say it is chronic, so definitely infection is already established and might have already started with its destructive phase. As gum disease is a bio-film based infection. So it's practically not possible to cure it only by medicine. Please do approach a Periodontist (super specialty in Dental Treatment particularly in gum disease care ) nearby and get all the necessary treatment suggested because persistence of gum disease can lead to loss of teeth.

Gum bleeding is sign of periodontitis. Treatment involves scaling root planing and re evaluation after 3 weeks. Most of the time scaling is sufficient but few cases require further treatment like flap surgery. So first of all get scaling done visit dentist. No medicine is useful but only mechanical therapy will do wonders.
