Meanwhile she can try applying plain sesame oil( preferably warm) on the pain site, before bathing in morning with warm water, and at night if possible. She can also be benefited by " castor oil" - a tsf of castor oil with warm water at 6 pm, ( stay at home as it may cause purgation-loose motion).

Seems the pain mostly is experienced after a period of rest. It might be similar way after prolonged sitting as well. This denotes to aama in her body which needs proper detoxification. Cold potency of Vata dosha and Stiffness due to kapha dosha gets aggravated along with channel blocking when the favourable cold environment is present for that dosha. Also, please mention of she has any history of surgery in the past.
Next Steps
It's an incomplete scenario for treating your mother. We can plan an online consultation for the better understanding of her situation. She will be fine, don't worry.
Health Tips
Give her sitz bath or sitting in warm water filled tub with immersion of her hips. U can add some saindhav namak into the water for rooksha fomentation effects. Avoid putting oil on the localised areas. Promote warm water throughout the day. Add a pinch of trikatu in cup of tea once a day (if she is not having any heartburn /acidity concerns) for 5 days. Follow up with her old medical records to me.
