You should wear Orthopaedic belt to protect your spine only when you are doing some heavy work, prolonged standing/walking or travelling etc (load on back).
Try not to wear lumbar support belt when resting or continuously to prevent muscle wasting.
Core exercises would help in strengthening back muscles
