Your neck pain could be due to neck muscle spasm. You should give hot water fomentation for 15-20 minutes twice a day. You can use Volini gel or spray provided you are not allergic. You need to do neck stretching exercises with proper guidance.
Next Steps
Avoid using high pillow or two pillows.
Health Tips
You need to consult a Physiotherapist for further evaluation and treatment either in person or through video call.

Your neck muscle is in spasm to reduce that do icing for 15-20 min for 2-3 times in a day. If your neck is slightly tilted to one side because of pain, then in lying down position do assisted ( ask somebody ) neck side flexion from less painful side to the painful side. Initially touch the pain and come back this way slowly slowly increase your range of movement that will help you to reduce your pain and it will also improve your neck posture...

The muscles on the back of your neck are tight, especially on the left side. This happens due to your sitting habits, working on laptop, mobile where you may have a tilt on left side. When you take two pillows these tight muscles get stretched and give pain. Check movements on both sides of neck and those on right will be lesser compared to left.
Next Steps
work with neck in neutral posture, workstation ergonomics, stretching exercises to restore flexibility.

Hello, Using pillows depends on the position that you adopt majority of time. For example if you are a side sleeper, then use pillow to keep your head in the mid position, however you are mostly a back sleeper then use a thinner pillow as if you use a thicker pillow your head would be flexed through the night....
Next Steps
If your neck and upper thoracic spine(area where the neck connects with upper back)is stiff then you are predisposed to getting pain due to stiffness. You need to start exercises to improve strength, maintain ranges and stretch muscles.
Health Tips
have an online consultation to give you some exercises for preventing the stiffness
