As you have started playing football after a long period of time, there are chances that you may have developed stiffness in your thigh muscles, causing the cramps or the pain. Proper stretching and strengthening exercises can help you to get over this.
Next Steps
consultant your nearby physiotherapist for proper assessment of your muscles' stiffness and strength and to know proper stretching and strengthening exercises.
Health Tips
do light warm up after that stretching exercise for thighs before running or playing football.
This could occur due to improper firing of your muscles because during your non playing years recruitment of muscles got altered.
You need a proper biomechanical assessment, consult a physiotherapist for that.
