Extraction and replacing tooth with artificial one should be done when root canal treatment can not be possible.
When root canal is possible and natural tooth can be saved, don't go for extraction.

Extraction is always an option but at your age it would definitely be better to do a root canal and capping to save the tooth. Otherwise later you will have to fill that gap created by the extraction with either a bridge or implant. Always better to save your own tooth provided it can be restored successfully
