Sph +1.00 and cyl -2.5 in a 3 year old
My daughter got her eye test done today . Sph +1.00 and cyl -2.5 in both her eyes. She is 3.5 years old. Eye specialist has suggested immediate spectacle and do patching exercise of each eye on alternate days. Is it curable ? And what measures can I take to atleast  control her numbers and not increase. Also anything to add in her diet - I only know to give her green veggies and fish. Want to know what else I can add in her diet . And what precautions I should be taking to improve her state. ? Just to mention - Her screen time is almost negligible. She does not access mobile phone or television at all.

Hi ... Your daughter has number ..make her wear glasses and do exercise. Follow up with doctor as and when advised . Number is due to shape of eyes ..you cannot change that. Healthy sleeping and eating habits balanced diet are good. Follow that. Let her be normal...play and some amount of TV, screen time is ok ...not excessive .

If your daughter doesn't have Strabismus or squint eye, continuous usage of spectacles is sufficient for her visual system to keep developing normally, and patching is not required at all. Make sure to confirm with your Ophthalmologist if your daughter has any form of squint. The refractive error is not curable, it is more like a measure of your daughter's eye than a disease. As she is still young, this number is likely to change frequently as she grows older. Make sure she gets her eye exam every 6 months for a few years, and then yearly later. As for the diet, a balanced diet, green vegetables preferably in salad/uncooked form, fruits, dry fruits like walnut are rich in vitamins and minerals needed to keep the eyes healthy.
Next Steps
Rule out squint, by consulting an Ophthalmologist, if not present, patching might actually be harmful.
Health Tips
Make sure she wears her spectacles regularly, as not wearing them might lead to Lazy eyes or Amblyopia.
