I just got a root canal 3 days ago and today (3rd day) my gums close to the tooth that had the root canal is extremely inflamed. Hurts to smile or move my mouth. The tooth itself is fine but the gum on the outside hurts really bad. What could this be from and is there anything I can do to get some relief?

Please post xray. Has the cap been placed? This could be due to a number of reasons - excess cement while placing cap or excess temporary filling after the root canal or the root canal itself.
