When you need to visualise all hidden nooks and crannies of the ENT region, an ENT Surgeon posts you for a Panendoscopy which is done under General Anaesthesia. It includes: Nasal Endoscopy; Nasopharyngoscopy; Laryngoscopy; Bronchoscopy and Esophagoscopy. These are done using rigid steel instruments and glassrod endoscopes which have a much higher resolution as compared to flexible endoscopes. The generic term Endoscopy is usually used instead of the actual term Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, usually done by a Gastroenterologist, using a flexible fiber-optic endoscope, to visualise the Alimentary Tract. It is usually done under Local Anaesthesia with some intravenous sedation.
