Do I Have Depression?
I'm pretty sure I have severe depression. But I don't feel like I can speak to my family members. I'm just so unhappy about myself, my appearance, I can't fall asleep/stay asleep, I've been eating more and I had suicidal thoughts at some point.

Depression means if u have low mood, low energy levels, anhedonia( decreased interest in activities which u used to enjoy earlier),low confidence,decreased concentration,ideas of hopelessness, helplessness,bleak and pessimistic ideas regarding the future,decreased sleep n appetite,suicidal ideas and these symptoms should persist for 2 weeks or more. As u mentioned ur symptoms these r suggestive of depression for which u should consult a psychiatrist near by you.

Feeling low, having crying spells, sleep and appetite disturbances, and difficulty in concentration and attention are some of the signs of Depression. Consult a Psychiatrist for a detailed assessment. It is likely with medication and counseling the symptoms will improve. If you are feeling suicidal or hopeless consult a Psychiatrist immediately.
