It all depends on the age of the patient, whether there is any proper etiology or its degenerative. There are some reversible dementias for which there is proper etiology, if we treat that cause, things can be reversible. If it is due to old age or degenerative which is irreversible, there are some cognitive enhancers that can retard the disease progression, also we can enhance cognition by making them participating in CRT (cognitive remediation therapy) which will make them more attentive, improve memory, well oriented and can generate insight into their illness
Next Steps
please consult neurologist if you suspect dementia and consult psychiatrist if they have any behavioral problems out of dementia.
Health Tips
can send to any rehabilitation setup for daycare where CRT can be practiced. thank you.

Hi Treatment of dementia depends on its cause. In the case of most progressive dementias, including Alzheimer's disease, there is no cure and no treatment that slows or stops its progression. But there are drug treatments that may temporarily improve symptoms. Psychotherapy also helps manage symptoms All the best
