HypoMania caused by fluoxetine
I was diagnosed initially with depression and started taking fluoxetine 10mg. Within a week or so I had a HypoManiac episode. From, what I understand, SSRIs take 6 weeks to start becoming effective but how come it caused HypoMania within a week and too on a very low dose. Does that indicate that my serotonin levels are fine or it might be something else.?

Hi You may have an hypomanic episode or manic episode if you have bipolar disorder and treated with antidepressants without mood stabilizer cover. This is called switch. Bipolar disorder may have depression or mania/hypomania, recurring in cycles. I would suggest you stop the medication and visit a Psychiatrist immediately. You can always consult me directly
