I understand your concern. Anal pruritus is a difficult to treat condition, as it can be caused by a host of factors, namely, fungal or parasitic infections, irritation due to manual itching, hemorrhoids, fistula, fissure, minor incontinence and many more. Overzealous cleansing with soaps may contribute to local irritation or contact dermatitis.
Next Steps
Consult a General Surgeon for arriving at a proper diagnosis and treatment of the causative factor.
Health Tips
Avoid manually scratching the area as it can lead to excoriations and possibly get infected. You can use Levocetirizine 5mg to control itching. Locally applied Clobetasol lotion can be considered. Spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, and tomatoes may cause irritation and should be reduced/eliminated. After bowel movements, the area around the anus should be cleaned with nonscented wipes, followed by gentle drying. A piece of cotton ball can be tucked next to the anal opening to absorb perspiration or fecal seepage, changed frequently. Avoid cleaning the area with irritant soaps.
