Regarding nutrition and diet
Hello, I am in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Have been controlling on weight till my 2nd trimester i gained only extra 1kg based on my pre-pregnancy weight. Now in 1month I gained 3kg may be because I used to have mango everyday. I want to know if i can have Special Kellogg's K flakes for breakfast instead of typical south indian breakfast we have everyday with little extra carb for me at this point of time. What kind of smoothies can i have so.that my weight would not increase drastically in these 3months of my pregnancy. PS: My Sugar levels are normal. Like around 120 with Gestational diabetes stats and random.as well. Thanks a lot in advance for all who would respond to.this query .

Hi user! Congratulations for your pregnancy! Cutting carbohydrates from diet is proven to be harmful for you as well as baby. Gaining this much of weight during pregnancy is quite normal the weight gained in pregnancy is due to the weight of baby carrying in the womb. I will never suggest to go for weight loss diets or packages foods during pregnancy
Next Steps
Always have well nourished balanced plan having good amount of protein, fats and carbohydrates in diet.

Hi Hope you are doing fine. Weight gain is normal during pregnancy but you should focus on gestational diabetes. Packaged food should be restricted because they contain more hidden sugar. Proper balanced diet is important right now. Mangoes are very healthy and cane taken based on sugar levels. Random suggestions won't work right now. Need more information about your lifestyle and eating pattern to help you better.

It is totally Ok to have a typical south indian breakfast. Do not worry about the carb content or the weight gain. Gaining this much amount of weight is normal. You need to worry if you gain weight beyond 8-10 kgs. For maintaining the health, you need to have varied diet consisting of grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy, pulses, oils and fats and non veg products if you prefer to eat. If you still have confusion about carb intake, take more of fibrous food like from eating vegetables, fruits, whole cereals and pulses. And yes you can take Kellogg's but avoid taking it daily. Take it 3-4 days in a week.

Hi! You seem to be managing well with your weight and sugars. In the third trimester- it’s normal to put on 3-4kgs on an average , as this is when the baby puts on weight and it’s crucial that you do not cut down on healthy fats and carbs from your diet. Do not take Kellogg’s K , it’s not advisable in pregnancy. Stick to poha, broken wheat , quinoa, millets- they’re safer and more nutritious than Kellogg’s special K. Stay hydrated, eat fresh fruits and raw vegetables, add desi ghee to your meals and avoid all processed foods. Good luck with your final trimester!

Thanks for the question Keep up with your pregnancy diet by eating the right quantities of the right, nutrient-packed foods. Choose foods that are big on bulk (so they fill you up and keep you filled) but low on calories: fresh vegetables (especially leafy greens) and fruits (especially ones with a high water content, like melon); lean poultry, meat and fish; and oatmeal (a better choice than granola, which tends to pack a lot of sugar and calories in a tiny serving). And fill up on water, not soda or juice. Focus on smart fats Somewhere around 25 to 35 percent of all your daily calories should come from healthy fats to fill you up and build your baby. But not all fats are created equal. Stock up on plant-based monounsaturated fats (like olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, safflower oil, sesame oil, avocados, nuts, seeds and nut butters) as well as polyunsaturated fats (including salmon, trout, flaxseed, tofu, walnuts, soybeans, canola oil and sunflower oil). The latter are also good sources of omega 3 fatty acids, which help build your baby’s heart, immune system, brain and eyes. Try to limit yourself to about 6 percent saturated fats (low-fat beef and high-fat dairy like butter and hard cheeses) in your daily diet. And minimize your consumption of trans fats — found in cookies, packaged baked goods, frozen pizza, crackers and fried foods — since they're empty calories that aren't so healthy for you or your baby. With your practitioner's okay, make regular exercise a part of your pregnancy and get active.
