I just had a small cut in left hand from the corner of my belt's buckle which is steel material. had a small bleeding and cut is not deep...i had last taken tetanus injection in Aug 2019...and before that in feb 2019...and before that in aug 2018..
Important to mention here is that i didn't have any cut later on after taking the TT injection..
So please tell me..
Do i need to take tetanus injection for the cut ?
How long does a tetanus injection gives protection ?

Tetanus Toxoid vaccine is given to a patient who is not recently vaccinated and presents with injury.
The Indian medical association states that TT vaccine should be given to a patient if he comes with a dirty wound and not vaccinated in last 5 years and if with clean wound and not vaccinated in 10 years.
As you have taken TT vaccine recently, you don't need to repeat the vaccine dose. Just clean the wound with antiseptic liquid (dettol) and let it heal on its own. In case of a larger injury, clean and do dressing of the wound.
Next Steps
Clean the wound. No need for taking TT vaccine now.

Person who are vaccinated by TT classified as complete or incomplete or unknown status. Since you have already taken TT vaccine recently , This vaccine usually protects from Tetanus for 5 years in case of dirty wounds and 10 years in case clean wounds. So you don’t need to take vaccine again for this cut. Repeat vaccination is given after 5 years if you have dirty wounds and after 10 years if clean wounds.
