Tonsillitis is nothing but inflammation of the tonsils, which are lymph nodes in oral cavity. Whenever there's infection, the lymph nodes enlarge to produce lymphocytes which fight Infection. Acute tonsillitis is very painful because of swollen, inflamed and congested tonsils. Treatment is usually conservative with proper medication. Only recurring tonsillitis and other such indication may require Tonsillectomy
