Doctor Anand Kavi, or sir as my family fondly calls him, treated my mother for L4-L5 endoscopic lumbar spine surgery this Saturday and mummy was walking on Sunday morning, and its not even 2 days and she is already home. I could not have imagined this, walking the next day of a spine surgery. Sir, is more than a doctor, he is a friend, a guide, a guru, an angel by all means. He is the best doctor to guide and treat you or your loved one and gives ample time. And if you have any doubts about the surgery or searching for a surgeon to consult please remove them and meet him. You are lucky that you are reading this. I was in your place not even a week ago.

Mummy had a spine issue from 2007 and over years we tried few treatments, allopathy and others, some relief used to be there but nothing cured it. Slowly I think the pain became a part of her life so she started ignoring it and we all took it lightly. Which we should not have, back ache should be treated immediately. Recently, the problem exaggerated, the pain was unbearable this time so we showed it to an Orthopaedic (other doctor) That whole day went in taking mri, x-rays etc and meeting that doctor few times, he suggested immediate back surgery and then knees surgery in a year's time.

We thought of taking a second opinion. We came to know about Dr. Anand through a family friend who he had operated on and they spoke highly of him, I got his personal number, he spoke very calmly with respect, gave an appointment for next day and shared the location on phone, next day we were delayed by few minutes but he was cool as a cucumber, and welcomed us, relaxed my mother, he checked her back, legs, knees for pain and then saw the reports that we had already done before and explained everything to us in detail (he will give you ample time, more than any doctor I have ever met). He told us that the we should go for the surgery, as the nerve is getting compressed (stenosis). He said an endoscopic surgery is not complicated like the old surgeries and next day you can walk, they only have to make a little cut in back and even that heals without any scar as such. We came home relaxed.

Surgery was planned on Saturday, in between me and my brother met sir again with my queries next day, he met us and solved them even though he had a surgery same day. I called / messaged him, he answered or called back and replied to messages with calming messages. We got admitted on the day surgery at Apollo Spectra , sir's entire team was really good, its a hospital without a hospital vibe, very relaxed. Surgery was in the afternoon, and after that sir called and met me and spoke to me in detail about how well the surgery went and if you have met sir and reading this review for affirmation, if he has told you surgery is the best option, just trust and go ahead without thinking. I will tell you why - So initially in our first appointment while looking at reports he had suggested surgery at two levels (L4-L5, L5-s1) but after surgery when he spoke to me, he told me they operated only on L4-L5 as he found the other level L5-s1 was strong and could be treated without surgery and will be strong for years to come if taken precaution. This is how committed Doctor Kavi is and and does not operate for the sake of it.

The next day of surgery sir came to check the progress, he joked with my mother to make her feel relaxed as just after surgery there is pain due to swelling in nerve, yet she walked a little. My father met Dr. Anand Kavi for the first time that day and listened to my father's poems/thoughts which he had penned down very affectionately and we laughed a lot that day.

On 2nd day she walked without any support and climbed a flight of stairs by touching the wall. She is back home now happy and feeling relaxed and is doing her exercises as I write.

And if you are scared for yourself or a loved one, trust me they are in best hands. He is an internationally acclaimed surgeon. We are lucky and blessed to have met him. We found a God like Human in him!

She takes care of your every minute details start from the first month of pregnancy till you get discharged from hospital.
