Hello  practo user. 70% cholesterol is generated by liver and 30 % depends on your eating habits, physical activity etc.Too much junk food can lead to many other serious medical conditions apart from cholesterol  because they are unhealthy fat, high in preservatives, less fibre ,less of protein etc.it is important for u to reduce this cholesterol level .so follow a balanced diet atleast for 3 months with the help of professional dietician and repeat lipid profile after 3 months
Next Steps
u can contact me directly for the diet plan

Hi Practo user, This level can be reverted back to normal, if you avoid transfat, bakery products, junk food, red meat etc Because you have a strong family history of heart diseases, try to avoid above said food items, incorporate one hour daily excercise, try to manage your weight with in normal limits. Most important, keep a check on BP, blood sugar, lipid profile, ECG , once in a while. For further queries and treatment plan, connect directly through Practo consultantion Regards Dr Suman Mohan
