Hi. any infection or flu sets the body in a catabolic phase, that is the rate of breakdown is much higher than the rate of synthesis. Our body's immune system is in a great need of nutrients to fight against the infection, and uses the body stores. they utilize the proteins of our body that is the lean mass, which is nothing but muscle and water. this leads to a major and a sudden weight loss. In this period to avoid excess weight loss and gain back the weight is of utmost importance, this can be achieved through supplying the body with adequate nutrition which helps spare the body stores and help in the anabolism. a good high quality of protein especially animal protein in the diet with adequate carbohydrate and fats in the diet help in gaining the weight back and stop the catabolic response of the body.
