Social anxiety aggravated & feeling lost
I think I have been suffering from depression but I have not visited any psychiatrist till date, so I am not sure. But as far as I have read about the symptoms and taken a few online tests, I feel I may be clinically depressed. It's been 2 years since I have felt motivated to do anything even though I am currently pursuing my doctorate & it's a crucial phase in my life. It has never been more evident in my life that my childhood traumas trigger me. The lockdown has aggravated my already bad social anxiety. Now I am anxious of even being on phone calls or video calls. I don't feel like talking to anybody even though I have loving and understanding friends. There are days when I like to dress up in decent clothes and that cheers me up, but there are days in between when I am not even motivated to take a bath. My research has been stagnant for an year now. I know I have a lot to do, I know what exactly I need to do to make progress but somehow I am not able to sit and get the work done.

Hello, Since you mentioned that you have been experiencing symptoms from quite a long time a lot of detailed history is required concerning your case. Childhood experiences shape up our personality , if there have been unpleasant events in the childhood it can create lot of disturbance. This psychological disturbance would last until you tackle these unresolved issues. You need to stay connected with the outside world i.e your friends and family because if you isolate yourself this will in turn increase negative emotions like sadness and uneasiness. Apart from connectivity, create an achievable to do list related to your research work. But if you would not work upon resolving the issues there will not be much improvement. So I suggest you to seek a professional help.
Next Steps
Consult  a Clinical Psychologist
Health Tips
Maintain Connectivity with friends and family, Create a to do list.

It seems you are emotionally overwhelmed these days and I am sure it must be difficult for you. I know you are aware of need for consultation jut unable to. So I will only suggest that it's okay to feel fearful. Researches has also shown that individuals experience stigma, fear, and difficulty in approaching to consultation due to lack of awareness about the treatments as well as misconceptions related to medicines. If that is so, I would say you can consult a clinical psychologist who is licensed to deal with these issues  and she or he may help you in providing a better understanding. You can thn choose best.
Next Steps
You can consult me if you feel we can work together and improve quality of life.

Hey! Doctorate can get really hard on anyone, and stagnancy in it can really crush your motivation and hit hard on your confidence. Although the time seems difficult, you don't have to walk all alone. Sometimes, even when we have the resources, the biggest obstacles in life can be our self talk. Easier said than done, try go end all your sentences on a positive, optimistic note. And of course there are many other aspects which needs to be checked and worked upon. I'd advise you to take some professional help from a clinical psychologist or a psychotherapist.

Hello dear I really appreciate your courage and finally you made an approach to ask few guidance from the experts and also it is positive that you kept motivated yourself from a long time in spite of difficulties which isn't that easy.. Yes you could be in severe depression, other dysfunctions, naturally it will exaggerate this time of crisis, as you already have various difficulties. Your profession is also not that easy to handle which is quite stressful.. However I would like to suggest few things.. 1. Try to make the courage at the earliest  to approach psychiatrist for medication and guidance. 2. You have the ability to manage and handle your emotions which you tried doing it for years.. So therapy will help you to cope with the problems, negative emotions , as you lack with it. 3. The source of problem could be something, try to prioritise, certain times you have to enforce to do the things until it will be habituated and kind of lifestyle. 4. It's good that you know your responsibilities, organising and just try to focus few things every day, the more you involve, the more distress you feel, till you cope and handle the situation. 5. You can put little effort in communicating with the people whom you trust, I understand as you told difficult, but just try to speak basic things, could build up confidence.
Next Steps
Try to avoid being alone, involve in activities which makes you feel better and happy.. Take care, all the best 🙂💐
Health Tips
You can clap your hands, it actually an exercise,  try and see it will make you cheerful.. 10 min breathing exercises will help you to calm..
