1. What is epilepsy?
A condition of the brain where there is abnormal electrical activity is called epilepsy. It is classified as a neurological disorder. When a person experiences recurrent seizures or fits, it is termed as epilepsy. Since the brain functions with the help of electrical signals, disturbances in these signals can lead to an epileptic event.

Different people experience seizures in different ways.
-Some may have a staring spell without realization of the same
-A few may have uncontrolled movements of arms and legs
-Loss of awareness and consciousness

-Surgery, in a few rare cases, may also be needed in case the cause is a tumour that needs to be removed
5. Do the treatments for epilepsy have side effects?
Treatments for epilepsy can have side-effects. Medication can make you feel tired and dizzy. You may even experience weight gain, loss of coordination, rashes on the skin, reduction in density of bones, speech and memory problems.
There can be severe side-effects too like depression.
