Long post but worth
This is Dr. Suganthi and I am from a small town near madurai which is Usilampatti. I am a gynecologist by profession and I have been doing service over 40 years for the poor and needy…By this November 2022 I had a myocardial infarction and Was shifted to Madurai and Meenakshi Mission Hospital and the doctors over there saved my life by doing emergency angioplasty…following that I was placed on antiplatelets and was back to normalcy….I had my menopause as I am is 70years of age….. And exactly 45 days from my angioplasty I had a postmenopausal bleeding….As a gynecologist I was worried because I knew something was wrong…. Immediately I had to evaluate myself with ultrasound abdomen, MRI abdomen and endometrial biopsy….the endometrial biopsy came as endometrial hyperplasia with early atypia meaning I was having Endometrial carcinoma….I informed my son who is a pediatric surgeon in Chennai and to my brother in law son who is a Cardiothoracic surgeon…..they advised me to come to chennai at the earliest. Came to chennai on Dec 28th and had a discussion with them whom to meet and so….the answer everyone gave was Dr.Ayyapan surgical oncologist without any second thoughts..
Without further queries got an appointment with Dr.Ayyapan surgical oncologist head in Apollo speciality hospital….it wasn’t much like a consultation with him but more of an interview where he patiently asked the history went on with examining me and going through the reports patiently….then he gave me the treatment options of going through the surgery which was removal of the uterus and ovaries…I was only in the thought that being a carcinoma I would need a open surgery but Dr.Ayyapan told that he would consider doing a laparoscopic surgery considering my age and postoperative outcome….he also discussed about the cons of an open surgery……It was a treat to watch him explain regarding the nature of the disease and course of the treatment as me being a doctor of old school….He took good care of me and said from today I am his baby and he would take great care….I was simply amazed and he was such an amazing personality and I haven’t come across one….on the go Dr.Ayyapan did not proceed to surgery….he wanted to make me fit for the procedure…so he had given me orders where I had to follow
1.Breathing exercise for my lungs to be strong for two weeks
2.Cardiologist opinion as I had undergone a stenting for my heart
3.Anaesthetsist fitness prior to surgery
I met Dr.kirubakaran who was the cardiologist for the fitness before surgery. He calmly explained the drugs I need to take and to stop before surgery and he would discuss with Dr.Ayyapan the management before surgery.
Next I met Dr.Babuji my anaesthetist….he too was not fazed about the condition I was in and advised the orders I needed to follow up prior to the surgery
Surgery was fixed on 11th of February….But Dr.Ayyapan made sure I’m not going into the operating room unless I was able to do my lung exercise (using a spirometer)with ease. He personally made me do in front of him and only when he was convinced he advised to go ahead with the surgery…
Then the D day came and was admitted in Apollo speciality Nandanam….Good care was given and the pre op orders were well carried out…Dr.Ayyapan told me and my family members before wheeling me into the operating room that he is only gonna proceed with Laparascopic hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooopherectomy(Removal of uterus and ovaries)as planned and nothing is going to change which he has promised earlier. It shows how confident he was and with much interest in patients health.
I was wheeled into the OT and the surgery was done laparoscopically and was kept in surgical postoperative ward and once I was fit to shift I was taken to the ward.
In the ward I was taken great care by the staffs, Head nurse, physiotherapist, dietician whoever u name it their tender care, attention and love I will never forget in my life. I thank each and everyone again for taking good care of me thanks.
In my native I have conducted thousands of complicated deliveries and the patients would see god through me and say I’m their god but at this point of time I see Dr.Ayyapan as my God and his magnanimous form where no words are there to praise him…I thank him wholeheartedly amidst of so many complications he has saved my life without getting a pie from the time of consultation till I was discharged from the hospital…I thank him and his team for taking good care of me.
Last but not the least I am grateful to chose Apollo hospital for the treatment where best doctors are there saving many lives….it was like one family
Thanks and best wishes for your treatment and care to millions of souls
With regards
Dr. N.Suganthi
Visited Dr. Muralidharan Venkatesan (Orthopedic surgeon) For Spinal Surgery
Happy with: Doctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for moneyWait time
My father in law had a serious issue with his spine. He underwent a spine stabilization surgery at Apollo hospital greams road in August 2019. Which was an absolute lost cause. We wnet back to again and again to set it right, but to no avail.
By November of 2019 he was almost laid up in bed.. at this time only we were referred to Dr. Muralidaran at apollo hospital Perungudi. We mde an appointment with him and he explained to us in very clear manner what the problem was and also what can be done to set it right..
We were sceptical about under going such a mjor surgery again with in 6 months time , considering his 73 years age.
But Dr. Muralidaran was very confident that it can be performed with very minlmal risk...which in turn gave us confidence m.
He had advised us ,how best the surgery can be done and he had told us that with in 6- 8 weeks he will be able to walk.
Cages and screws were put along the spine at 8 levels . He was in the hospital for 5 days and then he was back home. Where he recaptured very well. As assured by the doctor he was able to walk with help of walker in 2-3 weeks with in 8 weeks he was able to walk well.
After surgery visits were also hassle free.. we are so relieved now. He is walking much better with out support and he is able to perform all his work by himself. He had prescribed very little medicine always advising that taking lots of medicine is not good in the long run.
He is also always available if we have any issues or doubt. Very approachable.
We are very thankful to Dr. Muralidaran for his help.

** ** *** ** *** **** ** * **** **** **** I still remember the day i first met him for my mom's issue. We were very worried and felt almost towards the end of the world before we met him. The moment we saw him, his words in the first consultation gave us life.
My mom who is actually not very bold and worried about her issue was confident and relaxed after meeting him. He is very caring towards his patients , very professional *** ******** He is very frank and also explains well about the issue and treatment and at the same time gives 100% confidence , love and care to his patients. And i can swear he is the best in his field.
I also admire the way he occupies his patient in two rooms and run between rooms to consult them and cut down those few minutes also and spend it with his patients. I couldn't imagine that any other Dr would do this. He is one the person i would thank throughout my life time. He also has very good memory and care so that he address patient's attender and always asks me to reduce my weight if i put on my weight in next visit. I feel proud that i have recommend him to my relatives and friends and one of them who had severe problem got treated by him and they thank me for recommending Sir. I wish him 100 years for the service he is doing for his patients. Thank you sir and you have a special place in our heart. Long live!!!

Dr. Somasundaram has the highest standards of professional ethics and medical expertise. My family is indebted to him for saving my mother from an incorrect diagnosis and course of treatment. My mother was exhibiting very peculiar symptoms like eye ptosis, body numbness and weakness. With spinal and other miscellaneous complications ruled out, she was referred to another neurologist initially who declared that the diagnosis was myasthenia gravis, though the antibody tests did not conclusively point to it! As a family, we were given the option of plasmapheresis (costing 6lakhs) or intensive immunotherapy (costing 12 lakhs) which did not seem right because the tests did not seem conclusive! After consulting an additional two neurologists, we finally came across Dr. Somasundaram and his patients' experiences with his treatment. After the first examination, he said he knew what the disease could be, asked us to take that exact blood test and indeed, came to the correct diagnosis of stiff person syndrome! Because of his to-the-point and proactive identification, he was able to quickly start the relevant treatment as my mother was till that point not on any corrective medication because of all the previous incorrect diagnoses. Three months down, my mother has made a rapid improvement in her health and not a day goes by that we don't think of what her condition would have been of not for Dr. Somasundaram's expertise. Among doctors that choose the most lucrative diagnosis possible from each patient, we are grateful to have heard of Dr. Somasundaram at the right time and his intervention has saved my mother from a harrowing, intensive and incorrect treatment especially given her fragile medical history. A thorough professional through and through.
