Maternal mortality is still a huge health issue in India. It is one of the indicators of the quality of our Healthcare system. Sepsis or infections contribute to 15 to 20 percent of maternal deaths. Half of these deaths can be attributed to unsafe or illegal abortion practices. This is unacceptable and it must change. Hence spreading awareness about safe abortion services is of paramount importance.
