Today is "World Depression Day". Many of the researchers have found that depression, these days is the most common among all the other mental issues. Women were the main target of depression, though depression is found in men also. Both the genders have different roles to play in society.
Main reasons for depression that were found are as follows:
- Changing lifestyle: We were brought up in a very different ideology and environment, as time changed, so did the need and requirement of the time. This change is such that we were never equipped with mechanisms to overcome these.
- Family Bonds: Nowadays everyone is so busy with there life and work that, the family has taken a back seat. Though this does not bother much when times are right, troubles hit us the hardest when times of trials come and we realize how far we left our family.
- Materialistic approach: People are more money minded now. These days the mindset is such that everyone has one solution to all problems "Money". This mindset somewhere is generating a lot of frustration and distance.
- Women Role: Changing times require extra work to survive. Women are now expected to work for home and have a job also. This creates a lot of pressure and the main reason for depression.
Reasons could be many but the most important part is to find happiness and cherish it even in a hard time.

- Recognize the role your own thoughts can play in causing you distress: Challenge beliefs you may hold about yourself and your situation that may not be accurate. For example, do you continuously fall short of what you think you “should” accomplish? When our minds continuously feed us messages about what we “should” achieve, “ought” to be, or “mustn't” do, we are setting ourselves up to fall short of goals that may be unrealistic, and to experience stress along the way. Learn techniques for replacing unrealistic thoughts with more realistic ones
- Find humor in your life: Laughter can be a great tension-reducer
- Support of friends and family: Seek the support of friends and family when you need to “vent” about situations that bring on stressful feelings. But make sure that you don’t focus exclusively on negative experiences; try to also think of at least three things that are going well for you, and share those experiences
- Laugh: They say that laughter is the best medicine, and it's really true. Laughing out loud increases oxygen and blood flow which automatically reduces stress. Not taking life too seriously can help everyone live a better and easier life. Make time for yourself, log out of Twitter and take breaks
- Listen to music: Listening to music can help calm you down and put you in a better frame of mind. If you're feeling stressed, putting on some calm music while you work could really help
Hope these would help you find happiness.
