Hello dear readers!

It's that time of the year when you pack your capris and tank tops in those big suitcases and pull out those furry collared jackets and over coats. Celebrities start selling thermals on television. Voila! The sun has revolved and winter is upon us!

So, what does that mean for your skin ?

There are many skin conditions that can get worse in winters but if proper skin care and doctor's advice are adhered to, you can keep a check on such conditions. Here are a few tips to manage some common skin conditions in winter.

1) Psoriasis

People with psoriasis are the ones which are the worst affected. This condition tends to flare up in the chilly weather, and if you are a brandy/burboun loving person, well, that might elevate your mood but your psoriasis can become angry! So, keep the poison at bay and stock up on moisturisers instead! Continue with the prescribed medication for psoriasis and stay hydrated at all times. Moreover, eat a protein rich diet as the desquamation can lower the body's protein levels

2) Chillblains

This condition can be very annoying as your fingers and toes can become very painful and swollen. Keep those warm and snugly socks and gloves handy. Always wear them especially when you go out.

3) Dandruff/Acne and dryness

We all love a long, relaxing hot shower in the chilly weather. But there is a downside to it. Hot water tends to wash out the skin's natural oils thereby making the skin dry and itchy. Always apply a moisturising lotion after such hot showers. Oiling your scalp half an hour before a hot shower is also recommended. Always wear a medicated sunscreen, regardless of the weather.

Cheers!
