Stretching is to lengthen muscle But strengthening the same muscle is also important. The tight and weak muscle create imbalance in our body. You need to work on your body mechanics
Next Steps
get proper assessment done first

As per the Doctor mentioned about the treatment, it seems the issue is related to your day to day exposure to workload and posture you carry all round the day. Kindly visit any physical therapist near you to thoroughly assess the problem and provide a regiment which will be more efficient in countering the pain. Then you can start with sports participation.
Next Steps
visit the nearest physiotherapist/ physical therapist
